TRANSPORT & FORMALITIES

bienvenueAccustomed as newcomers, all remember their first arrival in St. Barth. It is true that coming to Saint-Barthélemy has always had a small perfume of adventure. Formerly, when the island was used as a refuge for coastal coasters and tall ships, and today, when docking of the quays of Gustavia by private shuttle or private yacht as well as the spectacular landing by the Col de la Tourmente leave Unmistakably memorable memories. The Times have changed. Now Saint-Barthélemy welcomes its visitors to the airport Gustave III, equipped with all the necessary comforts: air-conditioned hall, shopping, snack bar. For those who prefer to start their holidays in beauty, here is a nice way to get to St. Barthelemy: by taxi boat. These companies put at your disposal an agent who welcomes you as soon as you arrive at the airport of Juliana and takes you to the pier to climb into a magnificent motor boat you will be able to glide at all speed on the incredible turquoise waters that surround St -Barthélemy.

PIECES OF IDENTITY AND VISAS

Citizens of the European Union must be in possession of a valid passport. US and Canadian citizens must be in possession of a valid passport, accompanied by a return or continuation ticket. The passport must imperatively have a validity period of more than 3 months at the time of the entry in the territory. On the other hand, the residence visa is not necessary if the envisaged stay is less than or equal to 30 days. Nationals of other countries except Brazil must be in possession of a passport and a short-stay visa issued by the nearest French Consulate or Embassy.

ANIMALS

Have vaccinated dogs and cats against rabies within 21 days to one year before the date of travel (knowing that those less than three months can not travel). Give dogs and cats anti-parasite treatment. Have dogs, cats and ferrets (designated as “carnivores”) identified by a veterinarian. Since 2011, the only identification tattoo is no longer enough: a microchip must have been implanted on the animal. Plan to obtain a health certificate within 5 days before departure. And above all, do not forget the animal health record!

FORMALITIES

Coming by Airplane

Come-a-saint-barthAfter the construction of the current airport, the few planes who dared to land at Saint-Barthélemy landed in a large savannah in Saint-Jean. Stuck between a dull on one side and the sea on the other, the waiting room was in the shade of a tree, feet in the pebbles. The times have changed, now Saint-Barthélemy welcomes its visitors to the Remy de Haenen airport, equipped with all the necessary comforts: air-conditioned hall, shopping, snack bar.

The 650 meters of runway at Saint-Barthélemy airport do not allow the big carriers to land. 25 km away, the neighboring island of Sint-Maarten has an international airport: “Princess Juliana Airport”, from which it is very easy to reach Saint-Barthélemy. The Pôle Caraïbe du Raizet airport (Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe also serves the destination of Saint-Barthélemy.

By sea

Since its discovery by Christopher Columbus, the port vocation of St. Bartholomew never ceased. Located to the west of the island on the leeward coast and dominated on three sides by hills which protect it from the prevailing winds and the swell, the natural harbor of Gustavia still offers one of the shelters Safer and more appreciated in the Caribbean.

The docks of the Port welcome all year round the most beautiful boats in the world with the comfort of the best equipped stopovers. On the side of the Wall House or the Harbor Master, the yachts of 100 feet and more line up like the parade, naming the most prestigious harbor names as a motionless journey: New York, Nantucket, Newport … Shipchandler refueling , Catering, but also shops and restaurants: Gustavia offers yacht owners a wide range of services for their comfort and that of their guests.
